Q: Who is your favorite character in the book? (Sent in by Summer O.) A: My favorite character is Andy! Miss Rawlins isn't bad, either.
Q: How long did it take you to write this book? (Sent in by Summer O.) A: I wrote it in a day and worked on for a month after that. Lots of people helped and gave me suggestions.
Q: When did you know that you wanted to become an author? (Sent in by Holly O.) A: About five years ago I started to have a lot of characters and ideas running around in my head. I decided to write them down instead of going crazy. I hope it worked.
Q: When can I buy Carmen's Sticky Scab? A: Now! Click here for more info.
Q: What gave you the idea for this book? A: I wanted to write a book about a girl named Carmen who couldn't sit still. Everyone really liked that she couldn't sit still because she had a scab she wanted to pick--they didn't care so much about the fire drill, scratchy socks or needing to go to the bathroom. So I made the book all about Carmen and her scab instead.
Q: Do you eat your scabs? A: I don't. But I ate an oyster once. I personally think it had to be worse than eating a scab.
Q: Which character in your book are you most like and why? A: I am most like the sharks. Behind the scenes, driving the story but never really in it.
